This painting was created for a project called "Perceive Me" conceived of and curated by Kristine Schomaker as a way to honor and love her body just as it is. Kristine asked 60 artists to make individual artworks of her posed in the nude. Each artist's approach to the project was left entirely up to us. I decided to have Kristine acknowledge her sexuality by being as vulnerable as possible during our photo shoot from which I chose the reference image for the painting. An exhibition of all the artworks is on display through February 2020 at the Ronald H Silverman Gallery at Cal State Univ, Los Angeles, and will travel to six California venues through 2021.
